Great result for the club in the first round of the season over the weekend with the 1sts, 3rds and 4ths getting up.

The 1sts lost the toss at Mont Albert and fielded first. Mont Albert got off to a good start, getting to drinks at 2/75. Marcellin fought back well to dismiss the hosts for 143, with the pick of the bowlers Kris Krolikowski taking 5/29 and for his first game at the club Chad Barrett taking 2/24 off his 8 overs. Marcellin got off to a quick start thanks to openers Cal Stewart and Al Evans. After Cal was dismissed for 52, Chenutha Wickramasinghe and Chad Barrett contributed 14 each, while Al remained undefeated on 51 seeing Marcellin home in the 35th over.

The 2nds won the toss and batted first against Hawthorn, putting together a competitive total of 159 off their 40 overs with significant contributions from James Kazalac (47) and John Dinneen (55*). In reply, Hawthorn got off to a fast start and kept wickets in hand to chase down Marcellin’s total with 9 balls to spare.

The 3rds fielded first and bowled Balwyn Saints out for 151. Opening bowler Rich Buchanan took 3/23 off 8 and was well supported by Paul Dinneen with 2. Dev Patel and Boyd Justice took 2 and 1 respectively in their first games for the club. In reply, Marcellin chased down Balwyn’s score in the 26th over with Mick Lowry (54) and David Serong (61*) the top scorers.

The 4ths were away to Melbourne Deaf at Hays Paddock. Marcellin kept Melbourne Deaf to a score of 121, wickets were shared around with 10 bowlers used! In reply, Marcellin chased the total down in the 21st over with 7 wickets in hand with Marchesi the top scorer with 48.
