Tough Start to the Season for the 3rd XI

The 3rd XI travelled to H.E Parker Reserve to take on Heathmont’s 2nd XI in a one day game.

Marcellin won the toss and elected to bat first.

Andy Keogh opened the batting and looked comfortable top scoring with 24.  Unfortunately wickets regularly fell and with only 2 other players making double figures a final score of 10/98 off 39 overs was going to make it very difficult for the bowlers to defend.

Ben McCarthy 8 Overs 0/22 and Paul Chappell 6 Overs 0/22 opened the bowling and both bowled well. Ben beat the bat several times and was unlucky to go wicketless. Ron Murray 8 overs 0/18, Tristan Craven 5 0vers 1/18 and Alec Morris 5 overs 0/18 also bowled well. Tristan took our only wicket for the day thanks to a very good outfield catch taken by Steve Kost.

Unfortunately with only a small total to defend, Heathmont passed the total in the 32nd over.

Next week the 3rd XI play Mont Albert’s 3rd XI on a much smaller ground than Heathmont’s and look forward to posting a much higher score for the bowlers to defend.

Special Thanks to Steve Kost and Alec Morris for filling in – hopefully they will both play many more games this year.
